XY follows Chris, an intersex man who is born with male chromosomes. Following the advice of doctors, Chris's mother gives Chris genital normalization surgery at birth without his knowledge and raises him as a girl. Chris, now 26 years old, is a lonely fitness instructor who has transitioned back into being a man and resists all personal contact. He is estranged from his mother and is haunted by memories of his ten-year-old female self, Christine. When Chris unexpectedly falls in love, he is challenged to confront the trauma of his past, forgive his mother and finally embrace who he is.

XY was presented at the 2017 ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop moderated by Stephen Schwartz, Michael Weiner and Joe DiPietro, and Aria Entertainment produced a public staged reading of XY at The Other Palace Theatre in London as part of the From Page to Stage Festival. I am currently developing the piece with director Hunter Bird in the Dramatists Guild Fellows Program and the Musical Theater Factory Writers Group.
